IT By Design: Fostering a Culture of Love, Growth and Success

For this episode of the ‘Culture and Career Corner’ podcast, Sunny talked to two champions of the IT By Design (ITBD) Philippines team—Ayra Macatol, System Engineer, and Amber Repizo, Recruitment Specialist.

Meet Ayra Macatol 

Ayra Macatol, a graduate in IT with a major in computer technology, has been with ITBD for six months. Ayra shared her gratitude for the support she receives from her team and expressed her passion for continuous learning. Living independently in the gig economy, Ayra enjoys reading books and baking cookies. 

Reflecting on her aspirations, she hopes to become a technical lead at ITBD and lives by the motto, “spread love, not hate.” This belief, she asserts, can significantly benefit the world, emphasizing the importance of self-love and positivity in building a better community. 

Introducing Amber Repizo 

Amber Repizo, a Recruitment Specialist, shared his remarkable career journey at ITBD. Initially starting without much experience, Amber found his potential recognized and nurtured by the company. He highlighted the exceptional career progression opportunities and the warm, supportive environment at ITBD. This nurturing atmosphere, he believes, is akin to a family, offering continual support and recognition that motivates individuals to excel.

Discussing IT By Design’s culture, Amber compared it to Disneyland, describing it as a place filled with amazing, friendly and talented people who embody leadership qualities. He emphasized that everyone at ITBD is on a shared path toward success, fostering a sense of community and mutual growth. 

Ayra added that ITBD’s culture is unique due to its diversity, innovation and collaboration. She noted that the diverse social and ethnic backgrounds of team members contribute to a rich, cohesive environment where everyone works towards a common goal. This diversity, Ayra believes, helps build the high standard of service that ITBD is known for. 

Life and Career Lessons from IT By Design Champions 

Ayra shared some profound life lessons she has learned throughout her career. She emphasized the importance of treating others with respect, following the golden rule of ethics: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” 

She also highlighted the significance of practicing gratitude and maintaining a positive focus to achieve personal and professional goals. 

Amber, on the other hand, stressed the importance of pursuing one’s passion, striving for excellence, and embracing teachability. He believes that doing what you love naturally leads to success and being open to feedback is crucial for continuous improvement.
