At IT By Design, our strength is rooted in the incredible individuals who make up our team. Every day, I’m reminded of how our shared commitment to growth, collaboration, and resilience drives our success. Recently, I had the pleasure of sitting down with three exceptional team members—Dan Testin, Gaurav Vaid, and Macy Palacio—to discuss their journeys, experiences, and insights about working at ITBD and the culture that prevails.
The Journey Begins
Dan shared how his journey with ITBD began in a rather unique way: his first day coincided with the launch of Build IT, our annual MSP leadership conference. It is the busiest time of the year for us. “It was a lot to absorb,” Dan recalled, “but it was probably the best way to start.” Right from the outset, he got to meet partners, colleagues, and see firsthand the relationships we nurture and the services we deliver.
Gaurav’s journey began back in 2016. “I still remember my first day,” he shared fondly, reflecting on the growth he’s witnessed in both him and the company over nearly eight years now.
For Macy, joining IT By Design was a refreshing change from her previous roles. He quickly noticed that ITBD wasn’t just another workplace—it was a community that fostered good work ethics and a genuine passion for excellence.
Defining the ITBD Culture
When asked about ITBD’s culture, each one of them expressed the values IT By Design upholds with a strong conviction.
Dan emphasized the cross-functional collaboration and the willingness of everyone to lend a helping hand. “You never hear, ‘That’s not my job.’ Leaders here invest in your growth and genuinely care about where you want to go.”
Macy described ITBD in one word: family. “It’s not just about career growth but personal growth too,” he said.
Gaurav highlighted our commitment to employee well-being. “ITBD values its people. From focusing on work-life balance to conducting mental and physical health sessions, the impact extends beyond employees—it reaches their families.” He reflected on how these sessions have helped him and his loved ones adopt healthier habits.
Life Lessons from the ITBD Journey
As our conversation progressed, I asked them to share the life lessons they’ve learned during their time here.
Gaurav spoke passionately about our core values and their grounding effect. “Discipline, resilience, and staying true to IT By Design’s values have been instrumental in shaping who I am.”
Dan emphasized the importance of building relationships—not just with partners but across teams. “Don’t be afraid to ask for help. It’s okay to lean on others. When everyone supports each other, success follows.”
He also shared his belief in the law of attraction: “The thoughts and attitudes you put out into the world come back to you. Focus on positivity and your vision, and you’ll achieve it.”
Macy added how ITBD has allowed him to grow holistically, saying, “Here, you’re not just an employee—you’re part of a bigger mission that encourages you to transform both professionally and personally.”
Ripple Effect of Growth
I firmly believe that growth is highly contagious. It creates a multiplier and ripple effect around you. Most importantly, leadership is about creating a ripple effect of growth. When we focus on personal development, we create opportunities for others to rise. My growth as a leader creates room for others to grow, and the same is true for every member of the ITBD team.
It’s our shared commitment to continuous learning, resilience, and collaboration that drives us forward. On an ending note, I am deeply grateful for Dan, Gaurav, Macy, and every member of our ITBD family. Your contributions make our community stronger and more impactful every day!
Let’s continue to grow together, support one another, and build a legacy of excellence.
