As the CEO of IT By Design, I’m constantly inspired by the incredible individuals who make up our organization. Recently, I had the privilege of hosting an episode of our Culture and Career Corner podcast with three outstanding team members: Alyssa, Ayra, and Nidhi. Each brought unique perspectives on our company culture, their personal journeys, and the lessons they’ve learned along the way. This conversation reminded me how growth, gratitude, and diversity are the foundation of our success at ITBD.
Building Connections and Setting Roots
To start the episode, I expressed my deep appreciation for Alyssa’s contributions, especially her critical role in onboarding new talent. This set the tone for a meaningful discussion, where each team member reflected on their experiences and growth at ITBD.
Alyssa, a recruitment specialist with nearly a year of experience, shared the challenges she faced early on. She said, “It was tough being the only recruitment specialist for service delivery, but it was also gratifying.”
Ayra, one of our newer team members, expressed gratitude for the warm and supportive culture she’s experienced, saying, “I have a lot to learn, but I’m grateful for the support from everyone.” Her ambition to grow into a leadership role shone through in her reflections.
Nidhi, from our Learning and Development team, spoke about her efforts to enhance employee communication skills. She said, “I’m glad I chose ITBD,” and highlighted how our supportive environment has fueled her professional growth.
Defining IT By Design’s Culture
When asked to describe ITBD’s culture, their responses echoed our core values:
- Transparency and Collaboration: Alyssa emphasized the importance of open communication and teamwork to achieve shared goals.
- Diversity and Innovation: Ayra highlighted how respecting diverse backgrounds strengthens our team. She noted, “Our differences are what make us stronger.”
- Belonging and Humility: Nidhi shared the importance of psychological safety, saying, “I feel psychologically safe here, and that’s important to me.”
Their insights perfectly encapsulated why our culture thrives. It’s rooted in collective humility, diversity, and ensuring everyone feels valued and empowered.
Life Lessons on Growth and Self-Respect
The discussion turned personal as I invited the team to share life lessons that guide them:
Nidhi:
- Never Compare Your Journey: Everyone’s path is unique—be your own cheerleader.
- Focus on Gains, Not Gaps: Celebrate how far you’ve come instead of focusing on what’s missing.
- Practice Gratitude: Acknowledge and appreciate the positives in every experience.
Ayra:
- Respect is Foundational: Treat others how you’d like to be treated to build trust and mutual respect.
Alyssa:
- Be Open to Feedback: Growth comes from learning through mistakes.
- Upskill Continuously: Always strive to improve and expand your skills.
- Stay Trainable: Being open to learning is one of the greatest assets a professional can bring to any team.
Their reflections deeply resonated with me and reinforced a core belief I hold: If you want to help others grow, you must first commit to developing yourself.
