In the latest episode of the “Culture and Career Corner” podcast, Sunny Kaila, CEO of IT By Design, had an engaging conversation with three esteemed guests from the IT By Design Philippines team: Jane Gomez, Senior System Engineer; Ryan Venzon, System Engineer; and Fedjorie Placino, System Engineer. 

This episode provided valuable insights into the personal journeys, professional growth and the unique workplace culture at IT By Design. 

Meet the Guests 

Jane Gomez: A 25-year-old graduate of civil engineering, Jane has wholeheartedly embraced the IT field, currently serving as a Senior System Engineer at IT By Design. She expressed her gratitude for the supportive and growth-oriented environment at IT By Design, where colleagues readily lend a hand and encourage skill development. 

Ryan Venzon: With 14 years in the BPO industry, Ryan recently transitioned to the managed service provider (MSP) sector through IT By Design. He emphasized the welcoming and inclusive culture of the company, noting how everyone, regardless of their role, is treated equally and warmly. 

Fedjorie Placino: With four years of experience, three of which were in the BPO industry, Fedjorie had always planned to work in the tech field. He expressed gratitude to IT By Design for helping him realize this goal, highlighting the company’s collective culture where everyone, from engineers to management, collaborates effectively. 

The Culture at IT By Design 

The guests shared their perspectives on the culture at IT By Design, emphasizing its supportive and inclusive nature. 

Jane described the culture as a blessing, highlighting the incredible support from colleagues. She appreciated the willingness of everyone to help each other learn new skills and best practices, creating an environment conducive to professional growth. 

Ryan found the culture to be infectious and warm. He was struck by the equality in treatment among employees, regardless of their position. This inclusive atmosphere inspired him to extend the same warmth and support to new employees, maintaining the welcoming culture he experienced from day one. 

Fedjorie echoed Ryan’s sentiments, describing the culture as collective. He appreciated the management’s efforts to include everyone in planning and resolving conflicts effectively. This inclusivity and collaborative spirit have been integral to the company’s success. 

Life Lessons 

The guests shared invaluable life lessons learned, aimed at helping other professionals navigate their careers. 

Fedjorie Placino:

Ryan Venzon:

  2. Seek continuous learning: Always strive to learn something new, accepting help from colleagues to become a better professional every day. 
  3. Share knowledge: Embrace opportunities to share your knowledge and experiences, contributing to the growth of others. 

Jane Gomez: 

  1. Seize opportunities: Make the most of every opportunity, regardless of the challenges it may present. 
  2. Embrace failure: Understand that failure is a part of the journey and be proud of every step taken. 
  3. Practice humility: Be open to receiving advice and willing to share your knowledge with others, fostering a culture of mutual growth.
