How Culture and AI Are Shaping Career Growth at IT By Design

Every culture has a heartbeat.

At IT By Design, I’ve never felt that heartbeat in policies or handbooks. I feel it in moments: small, human, unscripted.

Recently, I was watching an episode of our Culture & Career Corner podcast, hosted by Anamika, and I found myself completely pulled in by two such moments.
On one side of the screen was Trisha from our Philippines office; on the other, Vishal from our Noida office.

Both are part of our service delivery team. Both are quietly shaping what growth, culture, and leadership really look like at IT By Design.

And as I listened, I realized: these aren’t just employee stories; they’re a mirror of who we are becoming, as a company.

Trisha’s Story: “I Only Knew How to Reset Passwords”

Trisha (or Teresa, as she introduced herself) joined IT By Design on August 7 last year. And with complete honesty, she shared her starting point:

“The only thing I really knew was to reset the password in Active Directory.”

That was her skillset. That was her comfort zone. But what she walked into at ITBD was a culture where support is the default.

With guidance from her leaders and team, she stretched, learned, asked questions, and slowly rebuilt her confidence.

Today, she can troubleshoot a wide range of technical issues—something she never imagined on her first day.

When Anamika asked her to describe ITBD’s culture, she didn’t hesitate:

  • Supportive
  • Collaborative
  • Focused on growth

But the line that stayed with me was this:

“Hard work never goes unnoticed.”

To me, that’s the heart of our culture: simple, human, and deeply real.

Vishal’s Journey: Four Years, Four Roles, and Unlimited Ownership

Then came Vishal’s story—different from Trisha’s, but equally powerful.

He joined IT By Design on December 16, 2021, and in four days, he hits his four-year anniversary.
His trajectory has been nothing short of remarkable:

  • Joined as Senior System Admin
  • Moved to Level 3 within six months
  • Grew into Shift Lead and Advanced System Admin
  • Now manages his team, oversees escalations, rostering, and service calls

What made this journey possible?

“I came here with a goal to grow myself both technically and professionally.”

He immediately acknowledged his mentors: Keith, Gary, Sameer, Nitin, and Deepak—leaders who helped shape his confidence and capability.

When asked about culture, he talked about something that matters deeply in a people-first environment:
the freedom to take ownership.

And when Anamika teasingly asked if “accountability” was his favorite core value, he smiled and added:

“Passion as well.”

That combination of passion and accountability is the engine of leadership.

One Culture, Many Cities, One Beat

  • Trisha was in the Philippines
  • Anamika was in the Philippines
  • Vishal was in Noida, India

Three people. Two countries. Yet all describing the same culture—supportive, collaborative, growth-oriented.

That’s when culture becomes more than a workplace philosophy.
It becomes a shared heartbeat, stretching across borders and time zones.

The Life Lessons That Shape Leaders

Trisha’s Three Life Lessons

  1. Never stop learning — Learning builds confidence.
  2. Ask for help — It’s a strength, not a weakness.
  3. Hard work pays off — Effort today becomes opportunity tomorrow.

Anamika reminded us that growth isn’t just about the destination—it’s about the
transformation in the journey.

Vishal’s Biggest Lesson: Take Ownership

“Take ownership of the task.”

Ownership builds discipline. It shapes leaders.

And it ties directly to our core value: Accountability.

The Shared Flame: Passion

When asked about their favorite core value, both Trisha and Vishal chose Passion.

“When the flame isn’t there, you don’t feel like doing anything.
But when passion is alive, you’ll cross every limit.”

AI: From Fear to Second Hand

AI isn’t something to resist—it’s something to embrace.

Vishal’s View: AI as His “Second Hand”

He uses AI daily to automate tasks, manage workflows, handle invoicing, and support clients through Roost.

“AI helps me focus on things that really matter.”

Trisha’s View: AI as a Collaborative Partner

AI helps her troubleshoot faster and stay ahead of technology.
She sees AI not as a threat—but as an evolution.

Closing Reflections: The Culture That Lives in Us

  • The power of support
  • The power of ownership and mentorship
  • A culture where people feel seen
  • AI as a partner, not a replacement
  • Global teams growing as one

At IT By Design, culture isn’t written down.
It’s lived—every single day.

Because culture isn’t a policy.
It’s a heartbeat.
