A Reflection on Culture and Career Corner
I will be honest with you.
When I watch these Culture and Career Corner conversations, I am always looking for the moment when someone says something they did not plan to say. Something that comes from the gut, not the script.
This episode had several of those moments.
Anamika hosts Culture and Career Corner, a series of conversations with IT By Design team members at different stages of their journey, from different parts of the world. What comes through in every episode is the same thing. What it actually feels like to be part of something that puts people first.
The Culture You Feel, Not Just Hear About
One of the first voices in this conversation described the culture at IT By Design in a way that stopped me.
Coming from a background where the focus was entirely on technology and deliverables, the shift to IT By Design felt different from day one.
“It is about people first. There is a genuine sense of community and collaboration here. You are encouraged to learn, share ideas and grow not just as a professional but as a person.”
Seven years in IT. Two organizations before this one. And yet this felt different.
What makes it different is not just what the organization says. It is what the organization does. Managers reaching out proactively every week. Not just about performance. About the person behind the performance.
That is not standard. That is intentional.
Accountability Without Fear
Another voice in the conversation brought up something that resonates deeply with how we think about growth at IT By Design.
The culture here is not about perfection. It is about accountability with care.
“Grab the opportunity. Learn from it. You make mistakes. You stumble. But make sure to stand up, hold your head high, and focus on your next goal.”
That message came through clearly from what Anamika has been building within the team. A space where people feel safe enough to try. Safe enough to fail. And supported enough to get back up.
That is the kind of psychological safety that most organizations talk about but very few create.
HAPPY Is Not Just an Acronym
Every team member in this conversation found their way back to the same foundation.
HAPPY. Humility. Accountability. Passion. Positivity. Your Community.
These are not values that live on a wall at IT By Design. They live in the day to day interactions between people. In how knowledge is shared openly across departments. In how teams support each other not just within their immediate circle but across the entire organization.
One team member described it clearly.
“Knowledge here is not siloed. It is shared openly with teams supporting each other across departments through continuous learning, feedback and real time application.”
And the service standards reinforce it further. Security. Courtesy. Value. Resolution. Every client interaction anchored to the same framework. Every internal interaction held to the same standard.
Growing Beyond the Job
What stood out most across every voice in this conversation was how IT By Design thinks about growth.
Not just professional growth. Personal growth.
“We are not just creating people who are ready to work on a specific technology. We are creating people who are wonderful to work with in any situation and any circumstance.”
That is a fundamentally different aspiration for an organization.
One team member talked about looking at health. Looking at all four beams of life. Building people who can prove themselves in any situation, any circumstance, not just within a specific technical domain.
That is the Life By Design philosophy in action. And it shows up every single day in how people show up for each other.
Gratitude and Grit
One of the most reflective moments in the conversation came when a team member described what makes IT By Design a special place in two words.
Gratitude and grit.
Gratitude for the trust, the support and the opportunities that show up every day. Grit to keep learning, keep growing and keep pushing through challenges together.
“It is not always about winning or losing. It is about what you learned in that process. Did you change as a person in that process or not?”
That question is the heart of what we are building at IT By Design.
Not just a high performing team. A community of people who are becoming better versions of themselves every single day.
What This Conversation Reinforced for Me
Culture is not what you say it is. It is what your people say it is when you are not in the room.
In this conversation four team members, each with their own journey, each with their own story, said the same thing in different ways.
This is a place where you feel valued. Where you feel seen. Where you are pushed to grow not just as a professional but as a human being.
